The Brief
Media training can be absolutely crucial when it comes to managing media relations in a crisis situation.
Our CEO and founder, Michelle Nichols, was engaged by Headline Media to manage and support the delivery of practical training sessions on media relations and conducting interviews. They needed to provide training for an emergency service and this was to be delivered as a pre-planned table-top exercise training day, which involved various ‘real-life’ scenarios.
The Solution
Michelle provided her insights on effective communications and how to manage media relations in a crisis situation. This included how to direct media at a scene, producing a holding statement, creating press releases and best practice with the use of social media.
This was followed by a practical session where delegates were presented with scenarios and asked to give a ‘live TV or radio interview’, which was then played back to aid improvement and build their confidence.
The Outcome
All attendees left the training feeling;
- More confident about handling the media
- Well equipped to effectively communicate
- Able to control the narrative.
