NPCC National Cybercrime Team Communications

The Brief

The National Cybercrime Team are funded by the Home Office and are the national policing lead for cybercrime, providing funding, training and enhanced capability at regional and force level.

This requires effective communications and engagement with every cybercrime police officer and member of staff in England and Wales.

The Solution

Purple Pitch PR were initially engaged by the National Cybercrime Team in 2019, to manage the PR launch of dedicated Cyber Crime Units within every police force in England and Wales.

Our specific experience in policing sets us apart from other PR providers and we were appointed as the national strategic communications lead. We took full responsibility for the team, ensuring effective engagement across all staff working in all 43 Cyber Crime Units.

Deliverables

  • Developing a national PR strategy
  • Creating individual PR plans for each project within the programme
  • Designing and writing a monthly newsletter for the national network
  • Developing a management cascade briefing
  • Copywriting and editing blogs and thought leadership content
  • Providing crisis communications support
  • Providing consultancy advice and expertise to senior officers
  • Launched and manage a team LinkedIn account
  • Supporting with media and other high profile visits
  • Drafting copy for annual benefits report and projects on a Page for the Home Office
  • Researching, writing and submitting content for relevant industry awards

 The Outcome

By proudly strengthening communication within law enforcement, Purple Pitch PR are ensuring officers and staff stay informed, engaged, and equipped to tackle cybercrime effectively.

This is really meaningful and contributes, in some way, to the valuable work they do to prevent crime, support victims and catch offenders. All whilst rebuilding public trust in policing, through clear and impactful messaging.

Purple Pitch PR continue to support the National Cybercrime Team to ensure their work is recognised across law enforcement and to help continue to secure Home Office funding .
